UK's Chagossian "Compensation" Fund Spends £12000 in 4 Years; Some Paid for UK Officials' Travel

£40 million in supposed compensation for the Chagossians. Four years later only £12000 has been spent. Less than 1%. This is the record after the UK government officially promised monetary compensation for Chagossians forcefully evicted from their homes. Some of the used funds have reportedly paid for visits to the islands by government officials. From the start, the Chagos Refugees Group and other Chagossians have refused to accept or participate in the compensation plan, which they see as insultingly inadequate and an attempt to get Chagossians to give up their right to return.
